Angry XP Pro Boot problem - compaq scrn-only

I'm having a problem wit two things, first sometimes when booting, it only goes to the compaq screen with the two options at the bottom. I cannot get anything on keyboard to respond f10, f1, nothing. Also, when trying to get into bios by pickling the delete key nothing happens either. Any help in fixing this would be appreciated. Thanks

Double check the manual for what tp hit to enter the BIOS. It will be a very limited variety I'm sure since it is a Compaq machine, but not all use the same keystrokes to get in.

As to the keyboard issue, is this something that happens most/all the time? If the keyboard is unresponsive during bootup, does it become responsive after the system boots? Is it a USB keyboard with no native USB support through the motherboard? There are several things to consider for this problem.
