Default Installing xp with one disk but using the key of another?

I am waiting on my xp disk to arrive in the mail. The computer is finished and would really like to get it up and running. Could I use my xp pro disk to install and when the new disk comes use the key off of it or would that be too much of a hassle? Any ideas on this?

Well you can't because it asks you to put the cd-key in in the middle of the instalation just wait till you get the cd and then install.

Yep, Zaq is right. The setup program asks you for the key near the very beginning of the installation. So you're kind of out of luck. You can use any XP Pro serial to activate any XP Pro cd.

You can use any key for activation, even an invalid one. So you could use your existing CD as well as an existing key, and then activate with the new key when it arrives. If you don't happen to have another key, you'd have to wait. I'm guessing you have it by the time I'm posting this, though.

Not true. VLM, standard OEM/retail, specific OEM (HP, Dell, etc.), and other different types of XP installations can use different key algorithms. This applies to all versions of XP as well as Server 2003 and Vista.
