Default Transfer Rate / copying files in Vista 64bit

I have Sata2 drives both 1tb Seagates and Windows Vista 64 bit.

When I copy files from drive to drive, windows vista reports the avg transfer rate. I get just below 50 mb/sec. Is this the transfer/speed I should expect?

When I transfer files from an external usb drive 2.0. I get about 24/25 mb/sec on average.

I thought Sata2 was suppose to be way faster?

Holy Crap, thats fast. Bindows Vista has got some serious issues with, well pretty much everything, but especially with file copying, moving, deleting. When I copy form SATA II to Sata II I get about that sometimes, other times I watch it drop to BYTES per second. I dont know man there are some funny things going on with it and if microsoft dont hurry up and sort it out IN VISTA then im going to go mad. Download HD Tune and see what your HDD Performance is if your concerned but even that is just a guess under vista I think. I try and move a ten MB AVI from one folder to another on the same drive and it sometimes tell me it will take hours. A quick google will give you endless post on endless forums of this issue going back to January 2007, so Its been 2 years and there has been no fix. I think microsoft think windows 7 will fix it. But I dont know about you but I wont be forking out more cash to MS to fix a problem that should have been fixed 2 years ago. They should just give anyone with vista a free "upgrade, downgrade, sidegrade" to Windows 7 before they get a class action or something on there hands. Ahh there i feel a little better, now to restart so I can move this file.

Do not enable Advanced performance. When I did that, I was getting those odd ball transfer rate you had mentioned going from mb/sec to kbsec.

Moved 200 gigs to see what the average sustain rate was and got 56mb/sec.

Were would one find the Advance Performance Option? And it sucks that you cant use it cause it sounds so good. Im Assuming your 1TB Seagates are 7200.11 which should have a rate off over 100mb per second. There is something wrong and bindows vista isnt much better.

Its found under device manager when you do a properties of the disk drive/aka harddrive.

yes. that are 7200.11 sata 2 drives with 3 gbs supposely.

I removed the jumpers that limit them to the old 1.5 gbs standard.
