And it's taken you this long to work that out?

Unless you want the greatest effects in the latest games then Vista (otherwise commonaly reguarded by most power users as MEII) is not for you.

90% of the PC's that I build are still loaded with XP (32-bit or 64-bit, Home or Pro), though about 6% are either loaded with Ubuntu or Server versions of Windows, but it's only those who want the lastest gaming that seem to want Vista installed.

This post will likely generate a few opposite views but as I build custom PC's for living I know that most of those replies will definately come from either gamers or benchmarkers.

Hopefully Win7 will bring back more of the good crisp usage habits of XP with much less of the slow Vista overhead ones (memory & storage footprints are looking very good so far).

Hey, you forgot to wait to take the screenshot until it said "Time Remaining: 2 days 23 Hours 37 Minutes"

I have learned to do my transfers from Vista with Vmware setup wit a shared host folder in the vista the files are in then from inside Vmware (XP OS) do the transfer via shared host OS folder to the PC the files need to be transferred to

Man I was only trying to move the files from one folder to another on the same drive. lol. It was that bad that it never even came up with time at all. Just calculating. Fark if it just did it already and not worry about getting the Atomic clock right. Its all good.

And Wayout I have know all this and much much more for as long as vista has been out but I was just more frustrated than normal with it tonight as I tried repeatadly to do this move even just 1 file at a time and it gave the same resault. Its so farking stupid old vista. Bring on Windows 7 I say.

Oh and Wayout you are right on the money. If XP had Direct X10 No "Enthusist" would be using Vista, at all. Me Encluded, but oh Direct X10 is Lovely. And I origianally went to vista because I was having some bad stuff going on with NVIDIA Drivers on XP and Fresh installed didnt fix it and vista did. But Oh well. I have Windows 7 Beta also and it looks good. When I get some time I will give it a proper test. Its just so busy lately.

hahahahaha I just had the funniest Idea ever. (Probably already Been done many times but still funny) Screen shot something like that but with the desk top and set it as the wallpaper and Hide the Start menu bar. lol. Im sad I know.

Gee I wish that you'd to use the "Edit" button instead of doing 2 or 3 posts within a few minutes of each other.

I hate to try work out the small percentage of people who'd go to that extreme to get done what should be a really quick and simple task.

Id have to agree with you on that one as that just shouldnt have to be done.

Question. Do you think that Microsoft will give people with Vista free Upgrade to Bindows 7 so they can all be happy. I mean seriously they should and Ill even send them in a blank DVD.

UPDATE: I restarted my computer and it copied in an instant. Didnt even display the copying screen, just did it.

We that folder to folder across the network? I have never seen that happen within the same PC is why I ask.

Ya, I think that Atomic clock/counter is the issue because I know they released a update which speed that up a lot Pre-SP1. So I think it would work 100% if they just removed that feature all together.

I doubt we will get any discount or free upgrade to Win7, they are too stingy for that

No it wasnt across the network, it was Folder to folder on the same physical HDD. In the same main directory.

Hu, well with my network experience its been generally ok. Most of the time its up there at about 12mb/s but sometimes on the "Big Jobs" it does come down to bytes/s and its very annoying. I know its not just my system on my new PC even on a Fresh Install with nothing installed it does it.

    P.S I update bindows everyday.
