Thread: Explorer.exe maxes out CPU usage randomly... Help!

    For no reason explorer.exe [as shown in the Task-manager of XP] will jump up to 99% CPU usage even when "nothing is going on".
    Even when i turn the priority low for it and any other program that I need more CPU for higher, explorer.exe will periodically jump to 99% CPU usage for a couple seconds, which can be particularly horrible for CD burning and gaming, as all you out there know.

    I need help w/ this asap, thnx.

    what are you running? specs and programs

    screenshoot of taskmanager would be helpful, or do you run xp on a 386? =)

    Lol, after a grueling "repair" of windows xp and running into many problems along the way.
    I realized the processor hog was not really explorer.exe, but another program that acted 'through' explorer.exe .. a .NET mail-server..:rolleyes2

    Yeah, Bill said that .NET was gonna' be big
