Use Cacheman to do it if it's too troublesome using Registry editor. However here is where it should be when you create it (as I mention in the guide, you have to create it, it doesn't exist until you do):

    Thanks,
Its 3am here. I am sure I will find it in the AM.

PS I dropped all of your guides into a word document for printability and to be able to read it off my laptop while adjusting my other computers.

    Great guides once again.

I have a few other tweaks if you would like them. They mainly have to do with the aestetics/visual effects of logons, splash screens, logoffs, ect.
Something I learned and put together the same as you, from about 4-5 sites, since one site never really had all the info, or the right info on how to do something.

There's nothing to find. You have to create the entire Subfolder and then set it to 1. It doesn't exist otherwise (unless you use Cacheman).

though unload dll tweak is a really cool one but i would like to caution you against doing it.

i have found it troublesome when i try to install some apps that configure theirselves after a reboot. firewalls are one of the major part of that group of apps. you might see errors related to kernel.exe at the time of install which would be quite annoying more than anything else.

Thanks Mr. Rubble! I'll pass on that one for now.

PersianImmortal - did you add the tweak where you can make internet explorer say whatever you want at the top instead of "Microsoft Internet Explorer"?

I love mine. It says Chez's Internet Browser

    Just curious.
A buddy came over once and said "Wow man, I didn't know you were a programmer. How did you make your own browser?!?!?!?
    I was LMAO........
Then I showed him the reg. tweak. He starts his computer and shuts it off, so it was like speaking french to him, so I went over and did the tweak for him so he could WOW his other friends and his wife.

One more story, I got into an debate with a girl who thinks she knows everything about everything and she swore up and down that Earthlink is its own type of browser, that they made it. I told her no, they just add that to the top of internet explorer to make it "Earthlink". I let her go at it for about an hour before I took her in my office and showed her how they do it. Needless to say she grabbed her glass of wine and went to go chat with the wife for a bit!!!

    Chez

Anyway, I like it, its a pretty cool little tweak. It kind of personalizes your system a little more.

Asklepios - I didn't know the unload dll tweak could cause that sort of error. Never experienced it myself on several systems, but of course any sort of memory management tweaking has potential to cause problems.

Chez - yes, they say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and there are certainly a lot of people with little knowledge :) The IE tweak is in my 1st guide I believe (and it can also be done with TweakUI I think). Plently like it in my 2nd guide too :thumb:

My favorite tweaks are logons, splash screens, and shutdown screens. Especially the logon where you have to give your password. It is a little bit of a pain the 1st time to do, but after that it is fun to change them out.
There is also a program called logon loader, that will cycle through all of your logons in the certain folder so you have a different one show up on each boot.
I still haven't tried the Asus post screen or whatever where you can put a picture of you, or your family or anything for that matter, and it does it for you, but I am going to try it soon.

Thats why I like Asus boards so much. They are functionally great. Flashing the bios is practically automatic, they have Asus probe - for temps - fan speeds ect. and it will also record all that stuff for you and you can go back and check on a certain day what your temps were. OCing is a cinch.
Q-fan is one of my favorites. It automatically changes your HSF speed depending on the temp of your chip. I mean, how cool is that.
They are just fun boards to work with.
When I was in Tokyo(the last 5 years-just got back about 9months ago) I used soltek, cause that is what was available. They are great, stable as can be boards. Although no frills. So to come back and pick an Asus was like WOW, this is fun setting the bios and stuff. Whereas I didn't look forward to building soltek machines that much.

    Chez

PS I do like Tweakui too. I got a lot of my 1st tweaks from Tweaksxp.com, not too organized or very literate either though.
I saved all your guides in a big word document.

Btw - If you are interested I have a list of EVERY item possible that can be running in msconfig and a discription of what it is for. I found it on the web somewhere and saved it. It is VERY useful since almost all the items don't even give you a clue as to what they are running for. Unless you already have one. If you do, I would be interested in it, since this one is rather lengthly and didn't transfer well from html to word.

yeah actually that tweak is quite good but it is like the one that relates to the one related to Norton products (i guess it is some 8dotfilename or something like that). i came to know about it when i had problems with installing sygate and internet neighbourhood. i had to undo lots of tweaks one by one to reach it but it was worth the work. i still have that tweak done on my PC but i always undo it when i m installing something critical like a firewall.

I expect MS will release it as a powertoy one of these days, but no luck yet.
i think shared folders can do all that except changing the password. isn't that right? :?

I have done MOST of the tweaks in your guide, there were a few I wasn't too certain about and just left them as is. Anyways my CPU and RAM performance is way up. However my HD performance has achieved unacceptable new lows(especially in file copies)! I am using a Maxtor 80GB Serial ATA drive and it's formatted as one large NTFS partition. I did not do the tweak that could cause data corruption on SATA drives, and I also didn't do the tweak that didn't allow for Norton installs. I was wondering what tweak likely caused this HD slowdown. Thanks in advance for all replys.
