98 was a good OS, but it's time to move on, and I'm glad you did.

NTCompatible is one of my favorite sites---also got me hooked on message boards like this. If the game or app isn't there, check the forums and see about talking to a guy by the name of DosFreak---he's been made a mod recently, due to his amazing contributions in the info arena.

OK, I bought the new system, very similar to The Tweaker's machine. Here's the breakdown:

    Intel P4 2,26 Ghz - 512 kb cache
    (533 Mhz FSB)
    512 mb Pc-1066 Rambus
    Maxtor 60 Gb 7200 RPM
    Asus P4T533-C (I850E Chipset)
    MSI Geforce4 Ti4200
    Creative Audigy 5.1
    32x CDRW
    Toshiba DVD
Monsoon MH-505 flat panel surround sound
Logitech Freedom keyboard and optical mouse.
    Cisco DSL router
325w power supply, can't remember manufacturer.
    Nec FP2141SB 22" monitor 2048 x 1536 @ 85 Hz, 1280 x 1024 @ 127 Hz
    Win XP-home

Now I'm ready to start playing around with numbers and tweaking. Again, never done this before, but it sounds fun. What are the best tests to run? What tests are the ones everyone posts numbers on?

Thanks again for all the help.

Check my WinXP Guide page 2 for the common benchmarking tests, download links and which numbers to record.

Here are the numbers from my system. This is without any overclocking, but I've done most of the modifications listed in the WinXP Tweak Guide (thanks, PersianImmortal). I have not changed my file system to NTFS and will be posting a separate message regarding some questions on this, so this is with FAT32.
