    Mmmm
You need either 2 disks or another Partition on your exist disk.

Because you have already got XP on, not started with Win98, you wont get an automatic Booter option (Which XP would have given you if you started with 98)

When I did what you wont to do, I had a new HD and used a great Booter prog from
    XOSL

Install that on you Win98, follow instructions, very easy to use.

For complete peace of mind I disconnected my Win98 drive (Pulled IDE cable out) while installing fresh XP
You could do other way around if using 2 HDs

If one disk then get something like Partition Magic to split your existing drive up.

Any reason you couldn't have use XP's compatibility modes for your older games? It's worked for me.
