Sounds like the system is searching for something & can't find it. It could be messenger.

Is there a way to put messenger back on?

My computer has 3 profiles to choose from when logging on. I discovered that when I log in with the other two profiles, the boot time is 30 seconds. Only the profile I use takes 2 minutes. That is the profile messenger was uninstalled from. Sounds like a possible suspect. I'll search microsoft for messenger.

    I figured it out!!!

It was the damn DSL cable. I was logging in with a user profile that uses a network when I'm at school. To make things easy, that's the only profile I use, even while at home. The entire time I was having this trouble, I had my DSL cable plugged into the ethernet card on my computer. The delay when I booted up or logged in (sorry, didn't recognize the difference) was caused from the computer trying to log into the school's network! When I booted up with the DSL cable unplugged, the computer booted in 30 seconds.

On the one hand, I'm glad it was not an actual problem, but on the other hand it sucks that I screwed with all my settings, uninstalled every program, and wasted hours trying to figure it out.

    Oh well, live and learn.

Thx to all who posted responses. I really appreciate the help.
