    i am have the darnest time installing xpsp1 i have tried everything under the sun tried all things posted on this forum still get the same message which is this

    The core system file(kernel) used to start Windows is not an authentic Windows file. The service pack installation will be terminated. Go to Microsoft Knowledge Base Q327101 for more information at http://support.microsoft.com".

    hey, i have the same problem... now here are my solutions: you have to uninstall every program that would modify the kernel, such as windowblinds, stylexp, and many other programs that come with the object desktop suite. Also, bootxp and those type of programs that would change the appearance of something.

    :bounce: thnaks i got it all straight i removed stylexp and boot xp and removed a line form with in my boot.ini and all went smooth after that thanks................
