I got this from one of our readers. I haven't tested it yet, so try it at your own risk.

HI. I found a much easier way to get the new Windows XP service pack installed and running and would like to tell you how to do it. It’s really easy actually. If you already have TweakXP installed, open the program and go to “System and File Tweaks”, then “Windows Tweaks”, and then “Miscellaneous Tweaks”. You should see a box there where you are able to edit your serial used for Windows. After not being able to download the SP1 from the Windows Update site, I was furious. So I decided to make up a serial (based on the corporate serial but adding some 666’s) and see if it worked. Well, I put in “66274-666-0000666-63486” and hit “Save User Data”. After putting that in the service pack downloaded flawlessly. Just thought I would get the word out to you guys so that other frustrated users can successfully install the SP1…

Damn! THANK YOU! I have XP Pro and that number worked perfectly!

Thanks a ton! Now I don't have to worry about my msoobe.exe not working right :D

(edit: wait wait wait!!! nooooo bad! heh, I finally got around to actually installing SP1, and it went fine. However, after I restarted XP started *****ing about not having a proper serial number or not being able to find a good key or something and would not let me log on. So I had to log in with safe mode and uninstall SP1. So maybe this wont work after all :( )

If you truly love something, set it free. If it returns then it is yours.
If it doesn't then hunt it down and kill it!

easier one: import the attached reg file (rename the attachment extent to .zip), which will change your xp key to a working one, then install sp1, working perfectly!

The link to this file can be found elsewhere. The file has been deleted from the TweakTown servers. We ask for your cooperation in this matter so we don;t have to take further actions. Thanks.
