Thread: my pc doesn´t detect my cd drive!

    two years ago i was working at the Siemens PC Hotline:
    most of the times such cdr problems were fixed with this
    reboot your cd with win98 or winme boot disk
    type
    fdisk /mbr

    you have to use a floppy disk that you created before you encoutered the problem
    fdisk /mbr will restore your master boot record

    if this doesnt work try
    serach the registry for "no ide" and delete anything like this

    Sounds like you have a dead cd drive to me
    try it in another machine my cds seem to die on a regular bsis think it migtt be heat:cheers:

    Try shizow's solution, it may work. I doubt you have a dead CD drive...the symptons you describe sound like a driver problem.

    I recommend if other methods fail, that you try what I suggest in my other posts. I looked around for a long time, and that is the best fix I could find that's guaranteed to work.
