I am now using the on board sound on a Asus P4B motherboard. Knowing I would in time move up to the Creative Labs, Sound Blaster Audigy card. I did not install any software off of the CD that came with the motherboard. I used the drivers that Windows XP installed.

I now have the new sound card to install and was wanting to know the best way to do this without causing a conflict. I know to disable the on board card in the BIOS. But what about the drivers that were installed by XP. Do I need to get rid of them or what?

I have been to the Creative Labs web site and downloaded the drivers for the Audigy card for XP. Also, after installing the drivers for the new soundcard what software should I install from the CD that came with the Audigy card? Iím a typical PC user, games, internet, office suites, photo editing, etc. I know the last question would be personal choice, but any advice would be appreciated.

Before you disable the sound in BIOS make sure that you remove the device in the Windows Device Manager first. ;)
