    Run the Process Lasso program, save a screen-shot of the sorted process list (as in post #17), and then post the screen-shot so that we can see the list of running programs.

    The problem might be with a combination of one or more win7 enabled services because you said that your system doesn't freeze when you shut down or reboot from safe mode in win7.

    Check out Ľ Black Viperís Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Service Configurations and you will see differences between the win7 home premium, safe, and bare-bones settings.

    Before you make any changes, you MUST first save a backup copy of the windows registry so that you can restore your current settings. Just to be safe, I always save a full backup image of my boot partition before I start messing around with changing the status of any system services. I don't trust windows backup and I use Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download to backup or restore any of my partitions.
