    If you can identify the virii, trojan or other nastiness (often a google search for the behaviour of or the name of a file it created can help pinpoint the exact malware) you can go to the virus encyclopedia at Symantec for step by step removal instructions.

    Once your sure you have removed it, you can then repair Internet Explorer (not uncommon to have to repair twice for it to work right) and get back right again.

    Of course you need to follow all the basic rules;
    Run an AV program
    Use a firewall
    Brush after meals and snacks
    Never swim within 1 hour of eating (I think that's because the high-dive is dangerous when you have a toothbrush in your mouth)
    Etc.
    Etc.

    Good luck with it pileon :thumb:

    Using "slapper" give a great deal of satisfaction BUT it comes at a cost....they know you are there and you have aroused them........My little Linux system with a home grown (largely plageurised) firewall script (almost as good as a commercial one and for nix) is pretty obscure......that suits me fine......

    Really....lock down the system as much as you can....get a virus scanner...get a trojan scanner and get a good firewall....then be paranoid...

    when, as I did, you see the pointer moving under its own power and opening up dirs etc then you realise that there is no such thing as paranoia....they really are out to get ya........
