Thread: WinXP will not see my cd drives + no sound because of power

seems after my power outage, XP has gone crazy. Neither ac97 (my sound) or my cd drives can be seen, from windows though. When my computer boots it can see the cd drives, im not sure about the sound though. I thought it was a driver problem, and i reinstalled some, but i wasn't sure if it was the right one. Do any XP experts know of any problem relating to corrupt drivers after a power outage? or know of any good driver sites

i have attached a picture of what shows up on device manager

If it were my system I'd be concentrating on the plug 'n' pray enumerator in the system devices.

that could be the root of the whole problem as it would be uppermost in the heirarchy here.

Have you checked your BIOS settings to see if all is as it should be? Perhaps a less than optimum power level has dinked up the settings.

Yes has the BIOS defaulted to No PNP OS installed instead of Yes? :?:
