Thread: Search companion problem in XP

    For some odd reason my search feature doesnt work now. It keeps coiming up "Companion file not found. You may have to run setup". Ideas?

    I used to get that for a while. I have no idea how or why it happened, and it didn't happen everytime. Seems to work fine now though. Strange...

    It's something to do with going on/off-line with IE on WinXP Professional, it used to do that to me untill I put on service pack 1, and now I don't ever get that problem.

    The problem is that u have a .acs file missing from your windows folder.
    Most probably its rover.acs (thats if u haven't changed it to something else earlier).
    Copy rover.ac_from your windows XP cd...folder I386 to foder C:\WINDOWS\srchasst\chars and rename it to rover.acs
    Reboot and try it now...
