Has anyone else received the message: "Only numbers can be used for the confirmation ID" when attempting to change the serial number of Windows XP Pro? I wonder if this is something that just started.

All the generated serial number combinations use letters. If I type digits in the boxes all is well... But as soon as I type a letter in a box, the message comes on.

Sounds like you are trying to type your product key in the wrong place...

I'd bet the fields you are trying to type in are found in Step 4 of the Activation Wizard? That's not where you update a product key.

Click on the "Update Product Key" button below that and you should get a new screen where you can enter the 25-digit alphanumeric CD Key. Once you do that, then you can go ahead and activate the product.

It's not an uncommon mistake. Let me know how it goes for you.

    Thanks HeadHunter...

You are exactly right. I was trying to enter the 5-block alphanumeric Product key into the 7-block confirmation ID area.

I'm back on track... thanks a lot!
