Thread: why do my windows become like this?

    whenver i use my computer for maybe 3-5 hours, my system seems to run out of resources or something because i won't be able to open anything and my windows start to become like this one:

    could you specify what is wrong with it?

    oopz sorry ok thats just an example, every window is like that

    the computer gets so.. i dono how to explain

    symptoms:
    1) every window has no file menus and stuff, such as file, edit, help etc

    2) i won't be able to right click anything
    (if i do able to, only about 2/20 options come up)


    3) i won't be able to open new programs

    and a simple reboot fixes this issue?


    How about this......next time the problem occurs bring up the task manager. How much memory is being used?

    i've done it, i have 512 mb, have around 300 left

    i'm surprised no one has had this problem =/ weird i had this on my old computer too

    It's either a video card or memory problem - Tried upgrading to the latest drivers?

    All of the above may be correct, as well as the fact that it's likely your PC is having problems with the swap file (maybe swap file corruption?). Set swap file to 0 then reset it to 1.5x your RAM (768MB). I hope you've also followed my XP guide for cache tweaks etc. :)

    It is memory related, but somewhere between swapping system info into cache and back etc. something is getting corrupted. It may well be a driver issue, so make sure they're all up to date for sure.
