I am running XP with wmp 8. Should I install wmp 9 or not? Any down sides? I like to use music match and nero, any known problems using them with wmp 9 ? Thanks, wbear.

I installed it and havn't had any problems with it...use nero all the time but i don't know why wmp 9 would affect it. Although I personaly use winamp 2.81 and divx player 2a. Installed wmp 9 because of some online media that required it for some lame microsoft excuse...but like i said, no problem so far.
I've gone too far and need to move on!

I've been using it since it was released with no problems, although I also see nothing special about it.

Alot of people are actually using wmp9, for whatever reason you should at least get the codec pack. Leave the player behind, its nothing special. Use Zoomplayer. www.doom9.org has links to the latest beta version.

I like the looks of it, and the autoslide function is great!

I'm actually starting to really like WMP9. Sure it has all the MS protection crap, but you can switch most of that off by going through Tools>Options.

What I really like about WMP9 is the "mini-player" which sits in your Windows Toolbar. You can get it to work like this by right-clicking on an empty part of your Windows toolbar, and from the top "Toolbars" submenu placing a tick next to "Windows Media Player". Now whenever you minimize WMP9 it will sit in your toolbar and give you quick and easy access. Nice touch!

Yay. Another useless feature to turn off when I wanna play a game and want some memory back.

    Pass.
