I have a "problem" w/ IE6 and WinXP pro. When I open a new window for IE, it displays "Detecting proxy settings..." every time for like 10-15 sec. before starting to load any page. I already checked the settings in Internet Options and disabled the check for proxy server, but it continues to persist. Does anyone know how I might solve this problem as it is severely slowing the visible effectiveness of my connection.

    Thanx

Under Tools>Internet Options>Connections>Settings untick the first two boxes as well. If that doesn't work, do a repair of IE (details in my WinXP: relax to righteous guide).

Thanx a ton - it worked - didn't even think of messing with that option. Thanx again
