    Anyone else experienced that ?

It simply bails immediately saying no products installed, when there is NAV2003, PCA 10, Ghost Enterprise, Norton Utils

seems to me that you have stopped norton AV service while following services section of the guide.
check your services again and start any service related to norton and set it as "Automatic".
i have never used norton but it should be named as "Norton Anti Virus" or something like that.

    Nope its not that.

Anyways youd think it was the LUdate services, since thats what handles live updates, & not the NAV services....

    None of the above...

    But thanks for the guess

    Danke,

Tho in my case its moot, since my winxp reactivation due to an imagined hardware change is forcing me to format reinstall winxp.

unless anyone out there knows how to bypass this in the case where the os installed was the xp corp+sp1.

the old key switch no longer works as it did PRE sp1

i just noticed that live update started failing after performing those tweaks

If you read the guide thoroughly, it states under the Registry Editor section that:

Speed up NTFS and general system performance

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\FileSystem]

DisableNTFSLastAccessUpdate=1 Disables constant updating of dates a file/folder was last accessed.

NTFSDisable8Dot3NameCreation=1 To disable support for old DOS 8-character filenames.

If these entries don't exist, create them as new DWORDs.
Note also that if you disable 8Dot3 Name Creation you will have problems installing Norton Antivirus 2003. To successfully install NAV2003, set it to 0 (enabled) first, reboot your system, install NAV2003, reboot once again and set it back to 1 (disabled).
I have Norton Antivirus 2003 installed, and aside from the above tweak, and as Asklepios mentioned, keeping Norton services enabled, there is no other way the guide will impact on Norton products.

Almost ready! Got all the stuff on the weekend but was missing a Serial ATA power adapter for the hard drive. Got my Radeon 9700 Pro today and the power adapter is arriving later today, so I should be back online regularly tonight/tomorrow :)

Details of the new machine are in my sig below.
