Outlook express makes a copy of each message, and worst, downloads the same message again...

    :?:

Do you mean that the message gets saved in your sent messages folder when you sent it?

I think I know what he means. Are the message displayed twice in the message header pane and are you using hotmail?

Yes! Exactly! Do you have a workaround?

The only "workaround" I know of is not to click in the Inbox for a hotmail account until all the messages have been downloaded completely. IF you click on the inbox before that, you'll get the "double email" effect.

i wish i could remember how i fixed that. i think it was in the tools/options menu of outlook express though.

try downloading internet explorer 6 sevice pack 1 from the update.microsoft.com site.

if it doesnt work, post back here, maybe i'll have remembered by then.

update: according to microsoft, the hotmail data base files have been corrupted (which is bull**** cuz my problem started after changing some options in the tools/options menu and i fixed it by toggling the options there)

    to fix:
    exit outlook first

    1) create a local folder and save any hotmails you want to keep.
    2) go to start/find/files and folders and enter hotmail*.dbx
    3) delete these files

outlook will create new hotmail data base files when loaded up
