Is there a way you could get DirectX 9.0a in a package i.e. as an offline installer?

Find it cumbersome to download the files all over again if I ever need to reinstall DX9.0a...

They have a redistributable version of DX9 but not of DX9.0a...

    Any ideas?

No, DirectX9.0a is not available as a redistributable package. The webinstaller is the only available means of getting DX9.0a Final.

Yeah, I was wondering whether it would be possible to make an offline installer for it, for example copying the setup and *.cab files that the webinstaller downloads and then use the installer with it...

You can try, but remember the DX9.0a webinstaller only downloads updated DX files which you haven't already installed. That is, you can't install DX9.0a from scratch. You'll have to install DX9.0, then install the 9.0a package anyway.

Um, I never installed DX9 before i installed 9.0a though... I think the reason why the web installer only downloads a negligible amount of files is because it's only acquiring the specific setup files for your operating system while the redistributable actually has the updated files for all operating systems.

Yes you're right. If you've never installed DX9.0 then you should have all the files need for DX9.0a. And yes, it only downloads what your particular system needs.
